Held after the Saturday meditations, the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament is a popular Catholic devotion that enriches a person's love for Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. The priest "exposes" the Holy Eucharist on the altar while he and the people sing Eucharistic hymns and praises like O Salutaris Hostia and Tantum Ergo. After each Saturday benediction, the congregation sings a hymn to Our Lady, since that day is traditionally dedicated to her. |
