The CATS group of catechists consists of female university students who commit themselves to share their faith and doctrine to the underprivileged children. They devote their time, rather than spend their free time to regain their rest or update themselves with the latest movies, to teach and provide various activities to the children in the depressed areas. Currently, CATS' main site is the slum area right outside San Antonio Village, where Balanghai is located. During the summer and semestral breaks, the catechists teach in the rural areas or in the other urban areas so as to extend their reach to the other children who thirst for knowledge. Other subjects such as English, Math, Sports and Arts and Crafts are also catered to the young children. Moreover, the catechists prepare themselves so as to teach the children effectively. At the beginning of the school-year, they spend their time to attend to the orientation so as to plan and budget their tasks and assignments prior to the catechism schedule throughout the year. They make sure they are shielded with their firm belief on the Catholic faith, morals, and doctrine through the means of formation offered in the study center. Other than knowing their doctrine, they also develop themselves to learn the pedagogy and effective strategies of teaching the young children. In addition, the catechists get to meet new folks of other batches in the university through the time they share in teaching the children. Consequently, they grow in their personal, social, doctrinal, and spiritual development. Therefore, the CATS Group of Catechists welcome university students of any level who have big hearts to devote their time to share the Catholic faith, morals, and doctrine to the children who are unfortunate and yet thirst for knowledge. It entails one to be committed, generous, and willing to give service to society and God. So, what are you waiting for? Come and join us as we our lives and those of the others more meaningful.
